2016 Groundbreaker Red
Groundbreaker Red is a limited edition wine produced to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Megalomaniac Winery Estate in Vineland, Ontario.
Back by popular demand, this exciting new vintage of one of our most loved wines is back on the shelves! Bright, balanced and not to be missed, this unique and fruity blend of Gamay, Pinot Noir Rosé and Merlot Rosé.
Being a lighter red, Groundbreaker works well with pasta, or burgers and fries. Pair with with a gourmet style burger topped with caramelized onions, Brie cheese, and smoked maple bacon.

-Fruit Handling / Primary Fermentation:
Each wine was fermented separately using techniques to enhance each individual variety before blending. A portion of the Pinot Noir and the Merlot were made as Rose and barrel fermented to add weight and texture while maintaining a bright minerality. After blending the wine spent 4 months on medium lees to harmonize the blend as well as help build a strong, textural midpalate.

TASTING NOTES:
Visual:Bright and light red cherry colour with nuances of darker red fruit.
Nose:Pleasant bouquet of forest red berries and spices with touch of oak and a touch of dry flowers.
Palate:Fresh, smooth attack on wild red berries. Medium weight with elegant and supple tannins and layered aromatics of fruits, undersbrushed and spices. Fresh and aromatic final on red fruits and hints of creaminess.
